The Sixth International Conference on Intelligent Computing Was Successfully Held in Changsha, Hunan Province, China
ICIC2010, led and organized by Hefei Institute of Intelligent Machines, co-hosted by Hunan University, Changsha, China, technically co-sponsored by IEEE, IEEE Computational Intelligent Society and the International Neural Network Society, and financially supported by the National Science Foundation of China, was successfully held in Changsha, Hunan Province, China.
The Conference Openning Ceremony was hosted by Professor Laurent Heutte, the Program Committee Chair from University of Rouen, France. Professor De-Shuang Huang, the General Chair from Hefei Institute of Intelligent Machines, addressed firstly and introduced the procedure of paper submission and reviewing in 2010. Led by Prof. Patrick Wang, the three keynote speakers, all the participants from all over the world all stood and mourned in silence for three minutes in order to express the deepest condolences to the victims of Massive Mudslide in Zhouqu County, northwest China's Gansu Province.
ICIC2010 invited Professor Paul Werbos from National Science Foundation of USA, Professor Patrick Wang from Northeastern University of USA, and Professor Chih-Min Lin from Yuan Ze University of Taiwan, China to give their keynote speeches at the conference. On Sept. 19th-20th, all the conference participants conducted extensive academic exchanges and discussions in three parallel oral sessions. Particularly, the Technical Committee Meeting was held in the afternoon of 20th, where the progress and situation for the ICIC2010 were reviewed and discussed, and the future development of Intelligent Computing was also discussed.
The ICIC2010 received totally 926 paper submissions from 29 countries and regions. After the strict review of Program Committee, 253 papers were officially accepted, where 243 ones were published in Lecture Notes in Computer Sciences£¨LNCS£©, Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence£¨LNAI£©and Communications in Computer and Information Science (CCIS) respectively by Springer Press, and the other 10 papers have been recommended to Neural Computing & Applications for publication as Special Issue. More than 130 well-known experts and scholars from home and abroad gathered to celebrate the event which enhanced the academic exchanges of Intelligent Technology and bioinformatics, neuroinformatics, and chemoinformatics. The experts and scholars conducted extensive academic discussions in artificial intelligence, machine learning, neural computation, bioinformatics, computational biology, computational intelligence, swarm intelligence, and the relevant fields within two days and discussed the future development of international intelligent computing technology.
After two days oral sessions and group discussion, according to experts¡¯ reviewing results, three Best Papers were chosen by the Technical Committee Members, and the winners were awarded certificates of outstanding papers at the Banquet in the everning of Aug. 20th by Prof. Paul Werbos, Prof. Patrick Wang, and Prof. Hong-Hee Lee, the Technical Committee Members from Ulsan University.
Prof. Paul Werbos from National Science Foundation of USA, Prof. Carlos Alberto Reyes Garcia from National Institute of Astrophysics Optics and Electronics of Mexico, Prof. Kang-Hyun Jo and Prof. Hong-Hee Lee from Ulsan University, Korea, Prof. Laurent Heutte from University of Rouen, France, Shanwen Liu, director of General Office from Hefei Institute of Intelligent Machines, CAS, China, and Jiawei Luo, vice dean of the School of Electronics and Computer, Hunan University, attended the Banquet and delivered warm speeches.
Prof. Deshuang Huang, General Chair of the conference, announced at the banquet that the 2011 Seventh International Conference on Intelligent Computing will be held in Zhengzhou in August 2011, the capital city of Henan Province in China, which brought the banquet into the climax stage. ICIC2010 was successfully concluded in the marvelous performance of Girls Band of Hunan Province.
